My name is Bruce Yerman. I’m a criminal defense attorney. I defend my clients in the Criminal Courts of all five boroughs of New York City.
I began my legal career as a criminal defense attorney in New York in 1993. I started as a staff attorney with the Nassau County Legal Aid Society. I established my private legal practice in 1995. Throughout the past 24 years, I’ve taken an aggressive approach to defending my clients’ rights. Skilled in both plea negotiation and trial advocacy, I'm strongly committed to obtaining the best possible result for each of my clients. Throughout my career, I've proudly defended over a thousand clients accused of felonies and misdemeanors in New York State courts.
I love my job. You'll see that as you browse my website. You'll hear it when we speak on the phone. You'll fully appreciate it when we meet in person.
Each case I handle presents a challenge: achieve the best result possible for my client. I regard my responsibility to you as an extremely serious one. You'll never doubt that.
Achieving the best result for you requires me to be the best lawyer I can be. I will always defend you zealously and intelligently. That means fighting aggressively when warranted, while at other times holding your cards close to my vest. If you think of a question you'd like to ask me, call my office anytime. If I'm unavailable to speak when you call, leave a message. I'll call you back as soon as I can – if not within minutes, then almost certainly the same day.
I graduated from Vassar College in 1985, where I received a bachelor of arts degree, majoring in English. I graduated cum laude from Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law in 1992. While there, I served as a supervising editor of the Cardozo Law Review. I also attended the Cardozo Criminal Law Clinic.
I've been admitted to the New York State Bar since 1993. I've been admitted to practice in the United States District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York since 1996. I'm a member of the New York State Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, the New York State Defenders' Association, the New York Criminal Bar Association, and the New York State Bar Association.
My career is dedicated to defending people accused of crimes.
